East Cobb Tree Service
East Cobb is unincorporated Cobb County running east of Marietta along the Johnson Ferry Road, Roswell Road, Sandy Plains Road, and Lower Roswell Road corridors. The residential lots here — many built in the 1970s and 1980s — have had 40 to 60 years to grow some of the largest and most mature tree canopies in Cobb County. That maturity is what makes East Cobb beautiful. It's also what brings homeowners to us when large oaks, sweetgums, or pines need professional attention.
Aable John's has served East Cobb since 1985 from our Marietta base at 699 Shannon Dr NE. Call (770) 218-0068 for a free estimate on any tree work.
East Cobb's Tree Canopy — What We See on These Jobs
East Cobb's tree stock reflects decades of suburban growth on large lots in Georgia's Piedmont zone. A few patterns we encounter regularly on East Cobb properties:
Mature white and water oaks — East Cobb has some of the largest residential oaks in the county. Trees 60–80 feet tall with 24-inch trunks over rooflines are common along the creek corridors and larger lots backing to the Chattahoochee drainage. Dead wood and structural defects in trees this size require crane access and experienced rigging.
Co-dominant sweetgums — sweetgums with co-dominant stems are one of the leading causes of storm failure in East Cobb. The two leaders compete and one typically fails under wind or ice load. Cabling before storm season is the right preventive call.
Loblolly pine pressure — East Cobb has substantial loblolly pine stands, and once beetle activity hits a neighboring property, nearby pines are at risk. A dead pine along the Johnson Ferry or Sandy Plains corridors that isn't addressed quickly becomes a significant hazard.
Construction root damage — many East Cobb homes have had additions, pools, driveways, and utilities installed over the years. Root system damage from that work often doesn't show in the canopy until 3–5 years later, when a tree that appeared healthy starts declining rapidly.
Creek-side trees — properties backing to East Cobb's drainage corridors (Robinson and Post Oak creeks, tributaries of the Chattahoochee) often have trees on slopes with compromised root anchoring. These need periodic assessment after heavy rain events.
